DAAD EPOS: Development-Related Postgraduate Courses

About this opportunity

With its development-oriented postgraduate study programmes, the DAAD promotes the training of specialists from development and newly industrialised countries. Well-trained local experts play an important part in sustainable development. Scholarships offer foreign graduates from all disciplines with at least two years professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Masters degree at a German university, and in exceptional cases a doctoral degree.

Who can apply

• Graduates from developing and newly industrialised countries
• At least two years professional experience
• Bachelors degree (normally four years) in appropriate subject
• Academic degree with far above average results (upper third)
• Academic degrees normally not more than six years old
• German B1 minimum for courses in German; English proficiency for courses in English

What you get

• Monthly stipend: 992 euros (graduates) or 1,300-1,400 euros (doctoral candidates)
• Health, accident and personal liability insurance
• Travel allowance (if not covered by other source)
• Monthly rent subsidy
• Monthly allowance for accompanying family members
• 12-42 months funding (depending on programme)
• Includes 6-month German language prep (for German-medium courses)
