About this opportunity
The Young Leadership Program (YLP) is a two-year, full-time consulting programme at McKinsey & Company that develops exceptional young local Ethiopian talent into real leaders. Fellows join client project teams and work on the firm's toughest business problems, taking an active role in every aspect of the engagement: gathering and analysing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, developing and communicating recommendations, presenting results to client management, and implementing recommendations alongside client team members. Fellows work in teams of typically three to five consultants. At the end of the two-year programme, high-performing fellows progress into a Business Analyst role. The role is based in the Addis Ababa office, with possible opportunities to work in other offices across Africa. Fellows receive exceptional training plus frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on their team, including a partner from the local office or practice assigned to guide their career, and formal training support. The local office also provides guidance on client project selection, helping fellows develop skills and build their network. The firm frames the role as a high-performance, high-reward culture for people who thrive on hard problems and have the resilience to try another way forward when they stumble.
