Mandela Washington Fellowship 2027 — U.S. YALI Flagship Fellowship
About this opportunity
The Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF) is the flagship programme of the U.S. Government's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). It brings outstanding young African leaders to the United States for an intensive leadership development experience, networking, professional development, and opportunities to connect with American leaders and organisations. The 2027 cohort runs three tracks: Business and Trade, for leaders working in entrepreneurship, business, economic development, trade and related fields; Emerging Technologies, for leaders working in technology, innovation, digital solutions and emerging technologies; and Governance and Security, for leaders working in governance, public institutions, policy, peace, security and related areas. An in-country information session is being held in Ethiopia for prospective applicants, organised in collaboration with American Space Bahir Dar and the U.S. Exchange Alumni Association Ethiopia — Bahir Dar Chapter. The session covers MWF 2027 eligibility and the application process, the three Fellowship tracks, how to prepare a strong application, and insights and experiences from MWF Alumni. Attendees also have the opportunity to engage with Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni and a representative from the U.S. Embassy.
